Adoption Process

At Paddington Paws Cattery, our British Shorthair adoption process is designed to ensure every kitten is placed in a safe, loving, and forever home. From applications and waitlist approval to reservations and pickup, we guide families through each step with care and transparency.

🐾 Step 1: Application & Waitlist

To begin, we ask prospective families to complete our waitlist application.

Once your application has been reviewed and approved, we will reach out with next steps, including submitting a $500 non-refundable deposit to secure your place on the waitlist. This deposit is applied toward the final purchase price of your kitten.

Waitlist placement is confirmed once the deposit is received.

🐾 Step 2: Kitten Selection

Kittens are carefully evaluated for health, temperament, and overall development. Families may begin selecting their kitten around 6–8 weeks of age.

Selection order follows the waitlist.

We provide updated photos and may offer video calls so you can get to know the kittens before making your decision.

🐾 Step 3: Reservation

Once your kitten has been selected, 50% of the remaining balance is due to reserve that specific kitten.

This step ensures your kitten is held exclusively for you.

🐾 Step 4: Preparing Your Kitten

While in our care, your kitten will receive:

  • Age-appropriate vaccinations
  • Veterinary health check
  • Deworming schedule
  • Early socialization with family, children, and everyday household life

🐾 Step 5: Going Home

Kittens are ready to leave at 10–12 weeks of age.

  • Local families may pick up directly
  • Long-distance families may arrange a flight nanny

The remaining balance is due prior to pickup.

🐾 Step 6: Contract & Policies

Every family must agree to our policies to protect our kittens:

  • Indoor Only — Our kittens are not to be allowed outdoors
  • No Declawing — Declawing is not permitted under any circumstances
  • Spay/Neuter Required — Unless sold with breeding rights, kittens must be altered by 12 months of age (proof required)
  • Vet Visit Within 7 Days — A licensed veterinarian must examine your kitten within one week of going home

If at any point a kitten’s wellbeing is at risk, we reserve the right to reclaim the kitten. Transportation back to us is the responsibility of the owner.

🐾 Step 7: Lifetime Support

Our relationship doesn’t end at adoption. We’re always here to answer questions, offer guidance, and celebrate updates as your kitten grows.

Once you adopt from us, you’re part of the Paddington Paws family.

Please Note:
Deposits are non-refundable but may be transferred to a future litter if timing or placement is not the right fit.
